Our Leadership
Douglas C. Smith, PE, LEED AP
Associate Principal
Doug Smith leads Interface Seattle’s mechanical
team. He earned his degree in engineering in the
US Naval Academy and also holds an MBA. Doug has
over 25 years experience in the design, construction
and operation of complex facilities. Doug’s
comments show his passion for sustainable design
—“Sustainable design is the most
significant change in the built environment since
air conditioning. The key to sustainable development
is integrated design from the ground up—from
Owner to Designer to Contractor, and finally to
User. Green buildings require occupant participation
and commitment from all stakeholders.”
With a wide variety of projects on his resume,
his experience encompasses all aspects of mechanical
design including HVAC, plumbing and fire protection
design, as well as building system commissioning
and design of industrial process systems. Doug
is active in the USGBC Cascadia Chapter as Co-Chair
of the Seattle Branch and is also an active member
of the ASHRAE Puget Sound Chapter. |
