Interface has a long history of incorporating energy efficiency and indoor air quality into its projects.  The firm’s engineers and designers work with architects, owners and other consultants to incorporate green or sustainable design factors into the mechanical and electrical design of each building.  Consideration of green building issues for both mechanical and electrical systems is a priority at Interface - as consultants, it is our mission to provide services to our clients that save them money while at the same time protect the environment.

Our job is to help you understand life cycle costs as well as first costs. We will help you set goals for “payback” of project features related to energy and water efficiency and will work with the design team to come up with creative solutions that minimize first cost while providing justifiable levels of energy and water efficiency. We also provide counsel on what levels of technology are appropriate for today's occupancy while providing flexibility for future building uses.

Interface Engineering has extensive involvement with the US Green Building Council (USGBC) and the LEED® rating system.  The firm has been a member of the USGBC for the past five years. We pride ourselves as being experts on the LEED® rating system.   We have 38 LEED® accredited professionals on staff and have been part of design teams that have successfully certified over 15 projects, including a LEED® Platinum project and many LEED® Gold projects.  Green design technical experience, energy modeling expertise, use of an integrated design approach and our continuing involvement with the USGBC represent an ideal combination for successfully designing a green building.
